An ideal and decent SUV for large adventurous families.

Subaru is a Japanese carmaker whose latest models are both practical and enjoyable to drive. The carmaker creates vehicles with all-wheel-drive powertrains and optional turbochargers that allow for exceptional performance.

Surprisingly, most Subaru vehicles are discreet and adaptable enough to serve as capable family carriers. The company is regarded for producing some of the finest crash test results in the automotive industry.

Subaru offers a wide range of vehicles, from small trucks to family wagons to high-performance sedans like the WRX STi. The brand is regarded as a top choice for enthusiasts looking for cars that combine performance thrills with usability.

With accommodation for up to eight people and a standard all-wheel drive, the Subaru Ascent is ideal for adventurous families. While many three-row SUVs have these features, the Ascent's distinct appeal can be attributed to the brand's outstanding marketing and rising popularity.

When one combines its extremely functional cabin and numerous available options with the unquenchable desire for high-riding family haulers, you get a star.

Here’s what we love about the 2019 Subaru Ascent.

The 2019 Subaru Ascent is the company's largest vehicle, and it shows. The Subaru Ascent has a passenger volume of 153.5 cubic feet, similar to the Honda Pilot.

The Ascent has 17.8 cubic feet of cargo space with all the seats up. It gets 47.5 cubes of space with the third row folded, in addition to three rows of seats that are nearly all acceptable for adults for varied degrees of time.

The seats in the front are comfy and supportive. The second-row captain's chairs suit both adults and children. They have 2.1-amp USB connections to charge current devices, separate climate control, and plenty of small-item storage.

The third row has only 31.7 inches of legroom; however, bargaining with second-row passengers provides enough space to fold in small-adult legs. Needless to say, that area is better suited for children. Some Ascents include two more 2.1-amp USB ports and tablet storage.

Despite the absence of family-friendly equipment like in-car vacuums and rear-seat entertainment featured in recent minivans, the large Subaru is hospitable to families of all shapes and sizes.

The journey is whisper-quiet and tranquil enough to host any family game night. It also accommodates a whopping 19 cupholders to carry a variety of sodas, juice boxes, water bottles, and coffee cups.

The Ascent's infotainment system lacks the customization options and user-friendly controls found in top competitors. Nonetheless, it offers popular features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 4G LTE mobile hotspot.

Standard touchscreens include large onscreen symbols that are easy to notice and respond rapidly to your touches. While touch-only means extra distractions, the screen's position and huge icons help mitigate this.

The 2019 Ascent contains various safety features, including a rearview camera, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist.

The 2019 Ascent received a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Five stars in frontal and side-impact tests and four stars in the rollover test. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named the Ascent a 2019 Top Safety Pick+.

In all six crash tests, the Ascent received the highest rating of Good. IIHS gave its headlights middling reviews. For how well they illuminate the road ahead, the adaptive LED headlights in the Limited and Touring trims scored a Good rating, while the regular halogen lights in the base and Premium trims received a Poor rating.

IIHS grades collision avoidance features on a distinct scale. For its standard front crash prevention system, the Ascent achieved the highest grade of Superior.

Subaru offers the Ascent in a variety of trim levels, including base, Premium, Limited, and Touring. For $32,970, including destination, the base model comes with standard all-wheel drive, cloth upholstery, 18-inch wheels, and three rows of seats. Additionally, four USB charging ports, power features, Bluetooth connectivity, three-zone climate control, active safety features, and a 6.5-inch touchscreen for infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

Touring-trimmed Ascents cost roughly $44,695. They include leather upholstery, 20-inch wheels, a forward-facing camera, a panoramic moonroof, heated and cooled front seats, heated back seats, woodgrain decor, and leather upholstery. The Ascent Touring is well-equipped, but like others in the class, it will appeal to buyers with money to burn.

The Premium trim level starts at $35,170. Premium comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, blind-spot monitors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and Subaru's telematics. Subaru adds second-row captain's chairs, a power liftgate, rear automated emergency braking, and keyless ignition for about $1,500 more.

The 2019 Subaru Ascent Limited level includes all the features of the Premium trim. Additionally, it includes push-button start, a four-way power-adjustable front-passenger seat, leather-trimmed upholstery, and more. The Limited Trim costs $38,995.
