If you are playing Halo Infinite, whether you like it or not, you are likely to hear your teammates communicate via voice. This is the way to prevent this.

The multiplayer mode of Halo Infinite brings together players from Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and the effect is surprisingly good. However, although the game offers many ways to compete with other players, its user interface can be confusing. Some functions are a bit hidden deep in the menu. One such key button is the one that mutes other players during the game. Without it, you may suffer from unknown fears because you are forced to listen to what is happening in the lives of fellow Spartans.

Although it is not obvious, there is a way to mute other players in the match, whether as a group or individually, provided you know where to find the option. If you don’t even want to worry, there are some ways to permanently close chat. Below is all the information about muting other players in Halo Infinite.

You may encounter difficulties when trying to mute the player during a player-to-player game in Halo Infinite. In many first-person shooters, you can usually access the option to mute other players from the same screen where you can see the roster and scoreboard, but in Halo Infinite, you cannot click the name from that location. Instead, you must go to the social menu.

Whenever you click the menu button on the controller or Escape on the PC, the social menu is located on the large menu screen. When you open this screen, on the bottom left, you will see various menu options. However, if you look down at the bottom right corner, you will see a prompt that allows you to open the chat and social menu and the settings menu. The social menu is located in the middle and can be accessed via the "View" button on the controller or Tab on the keyboard, allowing you to view the list of friends, especially the list of everyone in the current game.

Click on the "Social" menu and you will now see three tabs at the top of the screen. You need the leftmost tab to show the players currently in your game. You can quickly mute them all with a button (Y on the controller, R on the PC), or select a specific name and press A on the controller or Enter on the keyboard to pull out their player card. There, highlight the mute option, and you will turn off the player's ability to talk to you.

You can also turn off the in-game chat completely, which is especially useful when you always play the game alone, use Xbox party chat, or use a third-party service such as Discord to handle conversations. You can turn off all chat options, including text, from the Settings menu. Pull up the menu by clicking Start on the controller or F1 on the keyboard. You can also enter the settings menu by clicking Exit and pulling out all menus of Halo Infinite-it will be at the top of the list.

From the "Settings" menu, go to the "Audio" tab at the top. At the bottom of the "Audio" menu, you will find the options you need. Here you can adjust the voice chat mode, and turn on or off the lobby chat and match chat. If you wish to stop all conversations, please disable lobby and match chats.

There is also an option to adjust the incoming chat volume. Although you can turn off the lobby and match chat in the menu, we found that sometimes, the voice can still pass through. You can end this by lowering the incoming voice chat volume bar to zero.
